Extension: BBC Slideshow 3D
Last updated: 6 July 2025
BBC Slideshow 3D is a browser extension that reads images and captions from BBC News article pages you visit and displays them in a local 3D gallery. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data the extension touches, how it is used, and what is not done with it.
When you visit a BBC News article, the extension reads:
No other data from the page is accessed. No personally identifiable information (PII), browsing history, cookies, form data, or authentication tokens are read or stored.
Image URLs and captions are saved to chrome.storage.local — browser storage that lives entirely on your own device. The data is overwritten each time you visit a new BBC News article and is cleared when you uninstall the extension.
The extension does not:
The only network requests made by the extension are fetches of the image files already referenced by the article page, solely to display them in the local gallery.
This extension does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13.
If the extension is updated in a way that affects data handling, this policy will be updated and the date above will change. Continued use of the extension after any such change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
